Mother Jones Books @ Illinois Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo

Mother Jones Books and Vision 2020 are collaborating this year to bring a selection of green political titles to this year’s Expo! The Illinois Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo will take place Saturday, April 14th, at the Shirk Center (IWU), 9 am – 4 pm.

Vision 2020 will have information on Transition Town, as well as a broad selection of Transition Town titles by publisher Chelsea Green. We will also be offering green titles from numerous other independent left presses, all sold at a discount of at least 10%.

Hope you are able to make the Expo, by far the largest activist gathering in BloNo!

Order Camilo Mejia’s Book for March 3rd!

Here’s an opportunity to order, in advance of his speaking events, Camilo Mejia’s Book!

Camilo Mejia will be speaking in Peoria on Saturday, March 3rd. The event will include a showing of ‘Soldiers of Conscience’ and Mejia will also be signing his book after the event.

People have the opportunity to pre-order Camilo Mejia’s book — ‘ Road from ar Ramadi: The Private Rebellion of Staff Sergeant Mejia: An Iraq War Memoir’ — if they want to guarantee themselves a copy for the event. There will be a limited number of books available for sale at the event itself, but these extra copies could easily run out. There will be a significant discount off the retail price of $16, probably $10 or $11.

Green Selections Available Over Holidays

Mother Jones Books will have a small stand of green books available for sale over the 2011 winter break. As part of a book distribution for the group Vision 2020, MJB will be at Normal’s Coffeehouse on Fri. 12.23.11, 4 – 7 pm and on Thursday, Dec. 29th, 4 – 7 pm. Please refer back to this post for any changes to the last Thursday time.

Mother Jones Books accepts requests from left and progressive political organizations that would like a collection of books for display at their event or conference. Just contact Corey Mattson at motherjonesbooks@gmail.com and explain the event and what kind of books would be desired. For some situations, it might be possible to do a special order for the event.

Come Together for Democracy – Session 2!

Mother Jones Books will have a small bookstand of leftist literature on display at the Come Together for Democracy – Session 2, on Sunday, August 7th, 4 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Church (1613 E. Emerson, Bloomington, IL). I have new titles from Monthly Review Press, including The Crisis This Time and the Socialist-Feminist Project.

This Saturday, April 9th, the Ecology Action Center and Illinois Wesleyan University are putting on their awesome green exposition called the Illinois Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo.
